Customer Management (People Queuing Systems):

Micro Magic Pty. Ltd. has been involved in the design of people queuing systems since about 1990.

Projects:

VicRoads:

Micro Magic architected the people queuing system in use VicRoads (Victoria’s motor registration and licensing authority).  This system comprises a central processing unit, up to two ticket printers, up to 32 teller keystations and up to four 8” LED digital displays.  The primary purpose of this system is to allow customers to take a ticket and select a transaction type (e.g. License Renewal, Registration Enquiry), and wait for their ticket number and a teller number to be displayed on one of the digital displays.

This system also has the capability to accumulate data on the number and type of transactions handled.  It also gathers statistics on the time to handle each type of transaction by transaction type and by teller.

This system is architected around an RS485 network with microcontroller based intelligent peripheral units at each teller station and in the remote displays.  An embedded PC at the master ticket printing stations, and another in the optional slave ticket printer control the operation of the entire system.

Major Banks

A number of major banks have customer queue management systems with software and hardware components designed by Micro Magic Pty. Ltd.  These system basically consist of one or more displays, an annunciator and a simple push button at each teller station.  The teller pushes the button after serving a customer, the annunciator bell rings, and the display shows the teller number of the next free teller, and the direction (left or right) the customer must move to get there.
